Client Overview
Joe Curtis is a young, self-taught artist with a passion for bold, contemporary works characterised by block colours and sharp lines. You can learn more about his journey on the “My Story” page.

The Challenge
Joe reached out to us after a frustrating experience with a local scanning company. He explained during a phone consultation that his large-scale artworks, typically 4 to 5 feet long, had been scanned, but the results were subpar. The previous scans featured glaring white spots caused by reflections, a result of the textured and glossy canvas finishes. Joe was told by the company that better scans simply weren’t possible. This left him disheartened and hesitant about trusting another service provider.

The challenge was clear: we needed to deliver high resolution scans that accurately captured the vibrant block colours and sharp lines of his work while eliminating the texture and reflection issues that had previously caused disappointment.

The Solution
Drawing from past experience working with artists like Paul Lock, we employed a tailored approach to solve these challenges. By using advanced high resolution scanning techniques and meticulous post-processing, we recreated the smooth, consistent block colours that reflected Joe’s artistic vision. Our method eliminated the texture and reflections, resulting in prints that matched the clarity and vibrancy of his originals.

The Process

  1. High Resolution Scanning:
We used our state of the art camera scanner to capture Joe’s large artworks with exceptional precision. This ensured every detail, including the sharp edges of the block colours, was retained.
  2. Meticulous Post-Processing:
Each scan underwent manual correction in Photoshop to address the challenges posed by the glossy finish and pronounced canvas texture.
  3. Premium Printing:
The final images were printed on our Museum Smooth 310gsm paper, which offers an archival quality finish with no added texture. This was crucial in preserving the integrity of Joe’s bold designs.

The Result
Joe was thrilled with the results. The difference between the scans we provided and those he had previously received was transformative. The quality of our reproductions allowed him to confidently sell fine art prints alongside his originals, opening up new revenue streams.

Since working with us, Joe has achieved significant milestones in his career, including solo exhibitions and a residency with Galerie LeRoyer in Montreal.

Feedback
I was just a week away from my solo debut exhibition when disaster struck. I had already paid to have my prints made elsewhere, but upon review, they were a complete mess. With less than a week to go, I needed to have nine paintings scanned and turned into high quality prints and fast.

In a frantic search for a solution, I came across Fine Art Solutions. I emailed them my urgent request, and to my surprise, I received a call from the Chief Executive that very same day. He genuinely empathised with my situation and asked in detail about what had gone wrong with the previous company and what I was hoping for this time around. He listened carefully to all my concerns and assured me that they could meet my expectations.

The next day, I delivered my nine paintings to their team. Within just a couple of days, they had not only completed the scans and prints but exceeded my expectations. The prints were flawless, vivid, precise, and exactly what I had envisioned. Thanks to their swift turnaround, I even had time to get the prints framed before the exhibition.

Fine Art Solutions truly saved my show, and I’ve trusted them with every print release since. Their staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, making every project a breeze. I can’t recommend them highly enough!
