Nomad Arts Group, an art publisher and agent for select artists, partnered with artist Frank Canvas and Quantus Gallery to create a limited edition print series that preserved the vibrancy of Canvas’s high-gloss originals.
Challenge
Our task was to scan two batches of five 36” x 48” canvases with vibrant, fluorescent colours and a thick, resin gloss. Replicating these colours onto 310gsm matte Hahnemühle German Etching paper was challenging, as the fluorescence extended beyond Giclée printing’s colour range. Additionally, we needed a rapid turnaround, completing the first batch within 24 hours and the second the following week.
Solution
To meet these demands, we customised our camera scanning setup to minimise reflections from the high gloss resin finish. Our proofing process included test prints and close collaboration with the client to ensure accurate colour reproduction and address any adjustments.
Process
- High-Resolution Scanning: Each artwork was scanned at high resolution using our customised setup.
- Proofing: Test prints on Hahnemühle German Etching paper ensured colour accuracy, with adjustments made based on client feedback.
- Final Printing: After client approval, we printed 10 editions of each piece at a finished size of 24” x 32” with a 2.5” white border.
Result
The client expressed high satisfaction, describing the proofs as “brilliant,” and approved full production, allowing for a successful launch at Quantus Gallery.
